How to set your firm's capture mode and data retention

Choose whether Jump saves audio and video, and how long Jump keeps transcripts, media, and prep before deleting.

Written by Mitchell Murphy

Who has access to these settings?

  • Account owners

  • Compliance admins

You can decide what meeting data Jump captures and retains, and when that data is deleted for all users on the account. Once Jump deletes a file, it cannot be recovered.

To get here, go to Profile & settings > Compliance > Meeting data > Meeting capture and retention.

Capture & storage

Capture mode

Capture mode determines what data Jump stores from a meeting after it ends:

  • No Recording: Jump delivers AI-generated meeting outputs without saving audio or video.

  • Recording: Jump saves audio and video, where applicable, alongside AI-generated outputs.

Web capture limit

Set the maximum capture duration for web browser captures from 2 to 24 hours. Captures stop automatically when they reach the limit.

Capture & storage settings

Storage policy

Tell Jump whether to retain meeting media and transcripts. Again, settings configured here apply to all users on the account. Choose one:

  • Retain audio/video and transcripts

  • Retain transcripts (delete audio/video)

  • Retain nothing (delete audio/video and transcripts)

If you choose to delete transcripts, audio/video, or both, set when Jump deletes them:

  1. Turn on Delete transcripts after delay, Delete audio/video after delay, or both.

  2. Choose the meeting categories the delay applies.

  3. Enter the number of days after the meeting.

  4. Click + Add delay to set a different delay for other meeting categories.

  5. Click Save.

For example, you can delete audio/video after 7 days and transcripts after 30 days.

Retain nothing - delete transcripts after 30 days, delete audio/video after 7 days

Important: Deleted audio, video, and transcripts cannot be recovered.

Note: Retaining transcripts lets you reprocess meetings and use timestamp-based features like sentiment analysis and Ask Anything. Changing your capture mode doesn’t delete media from meetings captured before the change. To remove it, click Delete stored audio/video in the Capture & storage section.

Note: Parent accounts can let child accounts change their own capture mode and storage policy. When this is enabled, child accounts can only choose settings that are more conservative than the parent's.

Insights quotes retention

Choose how long Jump keeps the transcript snippets used as quotes in Pulses, Signals, and Flash Surveys:

  • Retain Insights transcript snippets: Jump keeps snippets indefinitely.

  • Delete Insights transcript snippets after delay: Jump deletes all snippets after the number of days you set. Deleted quotes no longer appear in Insights.

    • Insights quotes delete delay timeframe: The number of days before Jump deletes Insights quotes.

Insights quotes retention

Note: This setting is separate from your Storage policy. If you delete transcripts after a set number of days, set a matching delay here so Insights quotes aren't kept longer than the transcripts they came from.

Pre-meeting Prep retention

Choose how long Jump keeps the Pre-meeting Prep it generates. If you set it to delete, prep is permanently removed after the delay and can’t be recovered.

  • Retain Pre-meeting prep: Jump keeps generated prep indefinitely. You can open it for any past meeting at any time.

  • Delete Pre-meeting prep after a delay: Jump removes generated prep automatically once the delay below passes. Deleted prep is permanent and unrecoverable.

    • Pre-meeting prep delete delay timeframe: Pre-meeting prep will auto-delete after the number of days defined below.
