How to set up Jump for Outlook

Learn how to install Jump for Outlook, enable it for your firm, and sign in.

Written by Kyle Copier

Who can use this feature?

  • All users with a Microsoft business account

Jump for Outlook brings AI Associate into your Outlook inbox so you can get answers about your clients’ meetings, pull tasks from your emails, and draft replies without leaving your email. This article walks through how to set it up for your firm and sign in.

What is Jump for Outlook

Jump for Outlook is an add-in that brings AI Associate into your Outlook sidebar. Once it’s set up, you can ask AI Associate to look up client information, pull tasks from your emails, and draft replies, all from inside Outlook. Your firm’s compliance settings control whether it’s available, so an account owner has to turn it on before anyone can use it.

Before you start

  • A Microsoft business account is required.

  • Your firm’s Microsoft admin needs to install the add-in first. It won’t appear in Outlook until an admin installs it from the Microsoft AppSource marketplace.

  • An account owner needs to turn on three settings in Jump: Live Email Access, Email integrations (set to Read or Read and write), and Jump for Outlook.

How to set up Jump for Outlook

Setup happens in three parts: your Microsoft admin installs the add-in once for your firm, an account owner turns it on in Jump, and then each person signs in within Outlook. You only need to do this once.

Installing the add-in

Your Microsoft admin installs the add-in for your whole organization, so you don’t need to install it yourself.

  1. Have your Microsoft admin open Jump AI Associate on Microsoft AppSource.

  2. Have them install the add-in for your organization.

Once it’s installed at the organization level, everyone on your Microsoft account gets access in Outlook automatically.

Note: Microsoft lists the add-in as Jump AI Associate, and it appears in Outlook under that name, so search for that name when installing. Everywhere else, including in Jump, it’s called Jump for Outlook.

Turning on Jump for Outlook

Jump for Outlook has its own firm-level setting, separate from AI Associate. An account owner needs to confirm that all three required settings are on.

  1. In Jump, go to Profile & settings > Compliance > AI Associate > Integration capabilities.

  2. Confirm that Email Integrations is set to Read or Read and write.

  3. Next, go to Profile & settings > Compliance > Access restrictions > Allowed features > Emails and ensure Live Email Access is toggled on.

  4. Stay in the Allowed features section and scroll down to Jump Features. Confirm Jump for Outlook is selected.

  5. Click Save.

Learn more about these settings with this help center article: Compliance settings.

Signing in within Outlook

Each person signs in once to connect Jump for Outlook to their Jump account.

  1. Open an email in Outlook.

  2. Open Jump for Outlook using either option:

    • Select the Jump AI Associate button in the toolbar above the email.

    • Click the Jump icon in the email header, next to the reply and forward icons.

  3. In the panel that opens on the right, click the green Log in button to connect to your Jump account.

Where to find Jump for Outlook

Once Jump for Outlook is set up, you can open it from any email in Outlook. Select the Jump AI Associate button to open the panel, which has three tabs:

  • Quick Actions: Shortcuts for common tasks in your inbox.

  • Chat: Ask AI Associate about your clients, meetings, and emails.

  • Settings: See which Jump account you’re signed in to, and sign out or back in.

How to check or switch your signed-in account

The Settings tab shows which Jump account Jump for Outlook is signed in to. This is the first place to look if you see the wrong client information or need to switch accounts.

  1. In Outlook, open an email, then select the Jump AI Associate button.

  2. Select the Settings tab.

  3. Check the name and email shown for your signed-in Jump account.

  4. To switch accounts, sign out, then sign back in with the account you want to use.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

Can I use Jump for Outlook with a personal Microsoft account?

No, Jump for Outlook currently requires a Microsoft business (work or school) account.

Can I use Jump for Outlook with Gmail?

No, Jump for Outlook currently works only in Outlook.

Is Jump for Outlook available on my plan?

Yes, Jump for Outlook is available on every Jump plan, as long as your firm’s required settings are turned on.

Can I use Jump for Outlook in Legacy Outlook for Mac?

No, the add-in doesn’t currently appear in Legacy Outlook for Mac.

Why is the Jump AI Associate button grayed out?

The button stays grayed out until you click into an email, so open an email in Outlook and it will become available.

Why do I see a no-access screen in Jump for Outlook?

Jump for Outlook blocks access when any required setting is off or can’t be checked: Live Email Access, Email integrations (set to Read or Read and write), or Jump for Outlook. Account owners see steps for turning it on, and everyone else is asked to contact their account owner.

Why can’t I draft emails or see reply suggestions?

Drafting requires Email integrations to be set to Read and write, and with Read you also won’t see reply suggestions. Chat names the setting that’s blocking the action, and an account owner can change it.

Why do I see “No Jump account found” when I sign in?

This means the Microsoft account you’re using in Outlook isn’t the one connected to your Jump account. Check which account you’re signed in to on the Settings tab, then sign out and back in with the right one.

Why do I see “Mobile app authentication is not enabled”?

Your firm has mobile app sign-in turned off, which also blocks Jump for Outlook. Ask your account owner to turn it on, or contact [email protected] for help.

Why does sign-in fail with a Microsoft error?

Errors that come from Microsoft, such as admin approval requests or “Authentication with Microsoft failed,” need a closer look from our team. Send a screenshot of the error to [email protected].
