The article below describes how to connect Jump to Zoom, and how to adjust your Zoom settings so that your Jump notetaker can successfully record. If you're looking to learn more generally how the Jump notetaker works with Zoom (how to send it, how to change the name), see here.

What are the benefits of connecting your Zoom account to Jump?

Zoom gives hosts a lot of control. If the host doesn't permit a notetaker to record, the notetaker won't record.

Connecting your Zoom account to Jump is largely helpful because it gives some permissions to the Jump notetaker in advance, permissions that would normally have to be granted by you, the host, manually each time.

To be more specific, here are the three benefits:

  1. If you're the host, the notetaker can record a meeting without needing to request recording permission from you

  2. If you're the host, the notetaker can automatically record even if you're not in the meeting

  3. When troubleshooting Zoom issues, the Jump team can look at your Zoom settings directly to see if anything is amiss.

How do I connect Jump to Zoom?

Go here (User settings -> Integrations), and click "Connect" under the Zoom section:

Do I have to connect Jump to Zoom to record Zoom meetings?

No. Even if you don't connect Jump to Zoom, Jump can still schedule a notetaker to attend the Zoom meeting. You just miss out on the benefits described above.

How do I change my personal Zoom settings so that Jump's notetaker can record?

Jump records Zoom meetings by sending a notetaker as an attendee, so if your Zoom settings prohibit attendees from recording a meeting, the Jump notetaker will also be barred.

To give the notetaker from Jump permission to record:

  1. Log into Zoom on the web

  2. Click on "Settings" in the left-hand navigation menu

  3. Click on "Recording" in the settings tabs

  4. Switch the "Record to computer files" toggle to "On"

  5. Check the boxes next to "Internal meeting participants" and "External meeting participants."

How do I change my team's admin Zoom settings so that Jump's notetaker can record?

If you are a Zoom admin, you can select this setting for all users in your Zoom account by doing the following:

  1. Log into Zoom on the web

  2. Click on "Account Management" in the left-hand navigation menu

  3. Click on "Account Settings"

  4. Click on the "Recording & Transcript" tab

  5. Toggle on "Record to computer files" and click the lock button

Note: Toggling on this setting won't automatically record all of your meetings via Zoom. It will just make sure that the Jump notetaker is able to request permission to record.
