What is the dictation meeting type?
Jump users can capture or upload dictations to the platform to create meeting notes verbally instead of typing them. Dictations are useful for a single participant (like an advisor) to describe or provide thoughts about a meeting that has already happened.
Audio that users upload to Jump or capture using the platform can be processed as a Dictation / Voice Memo meeting type.
From there, Jump will convert your spoken words into properly formatted dictation notes, which our team can customize to fit your style. Based on your dictation, Jump will automatically identify and generate any relevant follow-up tasks you discussed.
Note: Each meeting type in Jump is attached to a unique note template and automations. As such, meeting captures can only be processed as one meeting type.
This means that if you pause the notetaker after a client meeting, then resume the capture to make a dictation once the client leaves, the single audio file could only be processed as a “Client Meeting” or a “Dictation / Voice Memo” meeting, not both.
We recommend capturing or uploading the dictation as its own separate audio file.
How to capture a dictation
To create dictation notes, Jump users can start by capturing the dictation using one of these methods:
Capture audio via Jump in the web browser
Capture and upload audio via the Jump iPhone or Android apps
Capture a voice memo on your phone and upload the audio file to Jump
Note: Depending on your firm's or broker-dealer's policies, you may not have all of these options available at this time.
Option #1: Capture a dictation via web browser at my.jumpapp.com
You can capture a dictation sitting at your computer using the web browser version of Jump.
To get started, click + New meeting on the top left of the main Jump screen.
Select Capture meeting now.
Jump will begin to capture after a 3-second countdown. Once it starts, you’ll see the capture controls appear near the top of your screen:
Click the red button to pause/resume the recording
Click Submit to upload your dictation to Jump for processing
You’ll have the chance to download or delete the captured dictation before submitting. Afterward, you can rename the dictation, and you’ll still have the option to download it.
Option #2: Use the Jump iOS or Android app
You can also use Jump’s iOS or Android app to capture a dictation using your mobile phone.
From the Today, Meetings, or Recordings tab in the app:
Click on the red button to begin capturing
Click the button aga
in to pause/resume the capture
Give the capture a meeting name (optional)
Click Submit Recording to upload the audio to Jump so the notes can be processed
Option #3: Upload an audio file
If you prefer, you can use your phone’s built-in voice memo app. You can upload the audio file of the captured dictation with these steps:
Click + New meeting
Choose Upload meeting audio.
Drag or select the proper file to the provided field to upload the dictation audio.
How to process the dictation notes
Once the dictation audio has been captured or uploaded to Jump using one of the above methods, it must be processed as a Dictation / Voice Memo meeting to generate notes in the expected format.
Jump will automatically process the notes as a certain meeting type based on the context of the discussion, though it may not also choose correctly. (Don’t worry, you’ll be able to reprocess the notes with the correct meeting type if necessary.)
Within the specific meeting, you can check to see which type it was processed as by reviewing the option that’s selected in the Meeting type dropdown.
If the notes were processed as another meeting type, you could click the Reprocess button to generate a pop-up window with a dropdown of all the available meeting types.
From there, you can select Dictation / Voice Memo then Reprocess now. Note that it may take a few moments for processing before the dictation notes are available to you.
